Born in East Stroudsburg, a daughter of the late George S. and Addie P. (Transue) Lee, she was a lifelong resident of the borough.

She was of the Methodist faith.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Kathy Sue) Schoonover of Highland, NY; two sons, Robert E. Cooke of East Stroudsburg and William F. Cooke Jr. of Collegeville; and two grandchildren, R. Scott Schoonover and Jody Sue Schoonover, both of Highland, NY.

A funeral service will be held a 1 p.m. Thursday from the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington St., East Stroudsburg, with the Rev. James Durbano officiating. Burial will be in Stroudsburg Cemetery. Friends may call 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Born in Monroe County, she was the daughter of the late Reuben and Blanche Staples Armitage. She was the widow of Daleton R. Plattenburg.

Mrs. Plattenburg was an active member of the Beakleyville Baptist Church. She was a former superintendent of the church school for many years, a deaconess of the church and a member of the Church Guild. She was a former Republican committeewoman in North Stroud Township for many years.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Marie Stettler, East Stroudsburg R.D. 1, and Mrs. Jean Cramer, East Stroudsburg R.D. 4; three sons, William A. Plattenburg, East Stroudsburg R.D. 2; Robert D. Plattenburg, East Stroudsburg R.D. 4, and Barry F. Plattenburg, Rutherford, NJ; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and four step-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. tomorrow in the Lanterman Funeral Home. Interment will be in Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg.

He worked for Karl Hope Enterprises, Shawnee, for 10 years, retiring in 1983. Before that he and his wife owned and operated the Sky High Lodge, Marshalls Creek, for 25 years.

Born in Marshalls Creek, he was a son of the late Harry and Elizabeth (Ace) Stettler.

He was a Smithfield Township supervisor for six years and a volunteer for the retired seniors volunteer program in Stroudsburg.

Survivors: Wife; daughter, Ann Marie Morris of Charlestown, W.Va.; son, Larry G. of East Stroudsburg; four grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

Born in East Stroudsburg, he was a son of the late Daleton and Laura Armitage Plattenburg.

He was a lifelong resident of Monroe County and had been employed by International Boiler Works in East Stroudsburg for 35 years until ill health forced his retirement in 1975. He was a member of the Boilermakers and Blacksmiths Union Local 397, Stroudsburg Eagles Lodge 1106 and the CLU Club of East Stroudsburg. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Nancy Nordmark, East Stroudsburg and Mrs. Joan Kresge of Stroudsburg; two sons, William A. Plattenburg III, Stroudsburg, and Kim R. Plattenburg, East Stroudsburg; two sisters, Mrs. Jean Cramer, East Stroudsburg R.D. 4 and Mrs. Marie Stettler, East Stroudsburg R.D. 1; two brothers, Robert D. Plattenburg, East Stroudsburg R.D. 4 and Barry Plattenburg, Rutherford, NJ; six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Lanterman Funeral Home, 27 Washington St., East Stroudsburg. Interment will be in the Evergreen Hill Memorial Garden.

Robert D. Plattenburg, 64, of East Stroudsburg R.D. 8 died Tuesday in Pocono Medical Center.

In his early years he owned and operated the Plattenburg Esso Service Station on North Courtland Street in East Stroudsburg. In 1967 he and his wife purchased the Boyd Manufacturing Co. in Cherry Valley, PA. They made quality "Bullseye" boomerangs until 1989, when he sold the business to his grandson, Brett Reish. From 1989 to the present, he was a carrier for the Dekalb Laboratory in East Stroudsburg.

Born Aug. 12, 1926, in East Stroudsburg, he was a son of the late Daleton and Laura Armitage Plattenburg.

He was a lifetime resident of the Marshalls Creek, PA, and East Stroudsburg areas. He was a 1944 graduate of Stroudsburg High School. He was a member of Middle Smithfield, PA, Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon, trustee and usher. Mr. Plattenburg was a past board member of Bushkill Ambulance Corps and a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the American, Asiatic and Pacific theaters.

Surviving are his wife, the former Janet A. Hennet; two daughters, Beatrice J. Reish of Poplar Valley in Stroud Township, PA, and Yvonne M. Smith, at home; a sister, Marie Stettler of East Stroudsburg; four grandsons and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Warner and Pula Funeral Home in Stroudsburg. Interment will be in Laurelwood Cemetery in Stroudsburg.

Newton D. Cramer
Newton D. Cramer, 73, of East Stroudsburg R.D. 4, died Thursday at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. The owner of the N. D. Cramer Trucking Co. in East Stroudsburg, he was the husband of the late Amy Plattenburg, who died in October 1981.

He was born in Price Township, the son of the late Ernest and Jean (McQuire) Cramer. He was a resident of Monroe County his entire life.

He owned and operated his trucking company for 25 years. He was a member of the Wooddale United Methodist Church in Wooddale and a member of the F.O.E. Eagles Club 110 in Stroudsburg.

He is survived by one daughter, Gwendolyn A. Marvin of East Stroudsburg R.D. 4, and two grandsons.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, East Stroudsburg, with the Rev. H. Robert Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Wooddale Cemetery, Price Township. There will be no viewing. At the request of the family, memorial donations may be made to the Wooddale Methodist Church, c/o Lynn Meola, R.D. 4, Box 4257, East Stroudsburg, PA 18201.
