Homer Plattenburg, Found Dead In Car
Homer A. Plattenburg, 50, of Stroudsburg RD 5, was found dead in his car on top of Mount Minsi, one mile west of Delaware Water Gap, yesterday. John C. F. Foelker, Monroe County coroner, issued a verdict of suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning.
The body was discovered by Donald F. Titus and Harold A. Lloyd, both of East Stroudsburg. They found Plattenburg's car on an unpaved road on the mountain top. They notified state police at Stroudsburg.
The coroner said a garden hose was attached to the exhaust pipe and passed through a hole drilled in the floor of the car. The car windows were rolled up, and the ignition was turned on. The police learned that Plattenburg was seen last on Sunday. It was estimated that he had been dead for five days.
Homer Plattenburg was an employe of LaBar's Rhododendron Nursery, Stroudsburg. Born in Portland, he was a son of the late Samuel and Virginia Frisbie Plattenburg. He lived in Monroe County most of his life and was a veteran of World War II.
Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. May Puzio, East Stroudsburg, Mrs. Virginia Brimer, Stroudsburg RD 5, and Mrs. Kathyry Bush, Stroudsburg RD 1, and two brothers, Clarence Plattenburg, East Stroudsburg, and Llewellyn Plattenburg, Blairstown.
The funeral was held today in the Lanterman Funeral Home, East Stroudsburg.

Kenneth Plattenburg, 30 years old, died at General Hospital, East Stroudsburg, on Sunday. He had been ill for only about a week, and was admitted to the hospital on Thursday.
He was the son of Samuel and Virginia Frisbie Plattenburg, and was born at Portland.
He was a resident of Easton and was visiting relatives in Stroudsburg when he was taken ill.
He is survived by his father, Samuel Plattenburg, of Stroudsburg, four brothers, Clarence, of East Stroudsburg; Llewellyn of Warren County, NJ; Pfc. Homer Plattenburg, somewhere in England; Pvt. Lloyd Plattenburg, in Hawaii; four sisters, Mrs. Stanley Bush, Delaware Water Gap; Mrs. Helen Custard, Mrs. Samuel Puzio, and Mrs. James Brimer, all of East Stroudsburg.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. from the Lanterman Funeral parlors, East Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Harold C. Eaton officiating. Interment will be in Riverview cemetery, Portland.

Born in Portland, he was a son of the late Samuel and Virginia Frisbie Plattenburg.
He lived in Stroudsburg most of his life. During World War II, he served in the Pacific theater. He was a member of the George N. Kemp Post, American Legion, East Stroudsburg.
Surviving are three brothers, Clarence, East Stroudsburg; Homer, Stroudsburg, and Llewellyn, Hope, NJ, and four sisters, Mrs. Virginia Brimer, East Stroudsburg; Mrs. Katherine Bush, Stroudsburg; Mrs. Mae Pucio, East Stroudsburg, and Mrs. Helen Blough, Vineland, NJ.
Funeral services will be announced by Lanterman Funeral Home, East Stroudsburg.
