Charles H. Biever Jr., 76, Lebanon, died Wednesday, July 29, 1998, in Stone Ridge Village, Myerstown. He was the husband of Marian L. Gettle Biever.Born July 15, 1922, in Pleasant Hill, he was a son of the late Charles H. Sr. and Caroline Gerlach Biever.
He was a retired clerk for the former A.A. Beattie. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Pleasant Hill and the VFW Post 23, and he was a life member of the American Legion. He was a World War II Army veteran.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Norman Waters, Arlington, VA; daughters Karen Biever, at home, and Nancy, wife of Robert Wagner, Lebanon; sisters Bernice Allwein, Grace Sholly, and Edythe Sholly, all of Lebanon, and Ruth Bamberger, Middletown; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Marne Biever, and a sister Mary LaRoque.

Surviving are daughter Karen Biever of Lebanon; son Norman Waters of Arlington, VA; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by daughter Nancy Biever Wagner and brothers Paul, Lester and Carl Gettle.

Lester E. Gettle, 52, husband of Viola Ziegler Gettle, 15 W. Jefferson Ave., Myerstown, died Saturday in the Philadelphia VA Hospital, where he had been a patient two weeks.Born in Myerstown. he was a son of the iate Paul and Lillian Putt Gettle.
He was a retired employe of the Lebanon Steel Foundry. He was a member of Tulpehocken United Church of Christ, Richland RD 1, and a member of the Men's Bible Class. He had served as an elder on the church council and had been financial secretary of the church for 20 years. He had also served as church delegate to the Penn Central Conference for 20 years and as committee chairman for the annual Rose Feast of the church. A U.S. Army veteran of World War 2, he had served with Co. B. 8llth Tank Destroyer Battalion in the European Theater of Operations and received the Purple Heart for wounds suffered in action. He was a member of the American Legion Post 55. Myerstown, and the Myerstown Rod and Gun Club.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Lester E. Jr., Myerstown; two brothers Carl and Paul, both of Lebanon; a sister, Marian, wife of Charles Beaver, Lebanon, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral was held from kercher Funeral Home, Myerstown, & interment was in Tulpehocken U.C.C. Cemetery, near Stouchsburg.

Surviving are a son, Lester E. Jr. of Myerstown; a brother, Warren Ziegler of Dillsburg; and a grandson. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in her church.
