Edward “Ed” John Vanous, 45, of Lisbon, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 28, 2016, after a long battle with cancer.
Ed was born December 26, 1970, in Cedar Rapids, to John Edward and Morean (Plattenberger) Vanous.
He attended Lisbon Community schools, and graduated in 1989. He married Jean Darbyshire on June 23, 2001, in Lisbon. He was a mechanic, working on the buses for Cedar Rapids Community Schools. In his non-working hours, Ed enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, and camping. He loved spending time with his beloved family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; sons, Tyler Vanous and Joshua Wagner; daughter, Shea Vanous; two granddaughters; mother, Morean Vanous; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends; and pets, Sadie and Coco.
Ed was preceded in death by his father; paternal grandparents, Robert and Anna Mae Vanous; and maternal grandparents, Roy and Betty Plattenberger.
Funeral Service: 10 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2016, at the United Methodist Church, Lisbon. Visitation: 5-8 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2016, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon. Burial: Lisbon Cemetery.
Memorials will be donated to local Lisbon organizations in Ed’s name.
