Rebecca Lee Evans Kessel Bender, age 74, died in Good Samaritan Hospital in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Wednesday evening, April 24, 1996. Mrs. Bender had been a resident of Everett Christian Home.
Mrs. Bender was born March 12, 1922 at Rig, West Virginia, the daughter of the late James Marvin "Boss" Evans and the late Pearl Riggleman Evans.
She moved to Pennsylvania in the early 1950's where she was employed as a craftsperson at Bedford Village.
She was preceded in death by her second husband, Dick Bender of Everett, Pennsylvania; her sister, Dot Evans Rumers and three brothers, Emory, Paul and Floyd Evans. Mrs. Bender is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Ruth Kessel Sherman of Owings Mills, Maryland, and Susan Laurene Kessel, Santa Cruz and El Paso, Texas; two sons, Steven Bender of Memphis, Tennessee and Stacey Bender of Everett, Pennsylvania; one brother, Herbert Evans of Rig; one sister, Betty Smith of Rig and Laurel Hill, Florida; 9 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the Grace Brethren Church of Bedford, PA, and had been a resident of Everett Christian Home for several years.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 27, 1996, by her pastor at Giesel Funeral Home of Bedford, Pennsylvania.

A son of Jacob Quinter and Laura Letitia (Jenkins) Brumbaugh. He married Mary Blattenberger October 12, 1940.He was survived by his wife and these children: Letitia Rennings of Alexandria, VA; Karen Brumbaugh of Beltsville, MD; Orson Brumbaugh of Columbia, SC; and David Brumbaugh of Ambler, PA; He was also survived by six grandchildren, and two brothers, Robert Brumbaugh of Pottstown, PA, and Eugene Brumbaugh of New Orleans, LA.
Mr. Brumbaugh was employed as a physicist by the Naval Ordinance Laboratory in White Oak, MD, from 1940 to 1977 and was a consultant for British Aerospace in Washington, D. C., naval attache to the United Kingdom and director of Air and Anti-Submarine Warfare Analysis and Planning Division for the United States Navy.
He was a member of the University Methodist Church in College Park, MD, and a member of Phi Sigma Phi Honorary Society. He received an undergraduate degree in physics from Juniata College and master's degree in engineering administration from George Washington University. He was also the owner of several patents.
The Mickel-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg was in charge of arrangements.
