Jacob Blattenberger left a will, written 1 January 1869, in which he bequeathed all of his estate, both real and personal, to his wife, Margaret. After her death, one half of any remaining estate was bequeathed to his brothers and sisters, or their kin (not nameed). The other half was "given to his wife's disposal". Isaac Cassel grew up helping his father on his farm and gristmill on Skippack Creek. He may have met his future wife, Mary (aka. Polly) Blattenberger, through the River Brethren Church, which gained many adherents in both the Skippack and Lancaster Co. areas. By 1834 Isaac moved his family to Ohio where they settled in Randolph Twp. in Montgomery County. Isaac was one of the founders of the Fairview River Brethren Church where he served as deacon for most of his life.
In 1850 Isaac owned a farm of 75 acres with three horses, six cows and two other cattle, 16 sheep, and 18 hogs. The 1850 Montgomery Co. atlas shows two properties owned by Cassels, one on the Salem Pike just north of Westbrook Rd. and the other on what is now Taywood Rd. This area was known as Kinsey or

cheaper factory-made vehicles were produced, the competition forced him out of business and, in 1879, the family moved to a farm in Newton Twp., Miami Co., Ohio near West Milton where Benjamin operated a saw mill and sorghum mill.
